ROBIN Were a vote to be taken to discover the most popular bird in America, fully three-quarters of them would probably be registered for the Robin. With the exception of Song Sparrows, no other birds found about cities and habitations, have as extensive a range. We may hear the same Robin song in Massachusetts, in California, in Alaska, in Labrador or in the Gulf States. To be sure, Robins are separated into three sub-species but it is only the hairsplitting ornithologist who can tell the difference between them and even he must know just where a Robin was taken before he can tell which kind it is.
