Western Water Snake

Tropidonotus validus, (Kennicott)

Distribution: Mexico, Lower California, Arizona and Utah.
Habits: The writer has never observed living specimens of this snake, nor is he able to find records of its habits.

Rather small in size. Grayish or olive-brown above, uniform, or with series of small black spots on the sides (on the edges of the scales) arranged in lines. Beneath, uniform yellow.
