"REPTILES" is a popular guide to a knowledge of the habits of North American turtles, tortoises, crocodiles and alligators, lizards and snakes. The author has extensive acquaintance with these animals, which he has studied in their natural haunts and in captivity for many years.

The photographs are largely made from life, by the author. The book is very much alive, telling the reader just the things he wants to know, warning against the dangerous tricks of venomous reptiles, and discrediting foolish notions and superstitions regarding innocent species.

The volume will do much to break down prejudices against snakes because they are snakes. There are many species that are not only harmless, but useful to man, because they prey upon creatures that destroy garden and field crops.
