Achemon Sphinx
Like the preceding species the caterpillar of this beautiful hawkmoth feeds upon vines, and shows especial fondness for the grape. It is also addicted to the Virginia creeper (Ampelopsis). The description of the habits of the larva given by Professor C. V. Riley, "Missouri Reports," Vol. III, p. 75, is most excellent. The figure which we give is taken from that Report.
The insect ranges over the entire United States from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and from southern Canada to northern Mexico.
