The Green Brilliant

A Relic of the Dresden Vaults--Worn as a Button by the King of Saxony. IN the Dresden Green Vaults, besides the "Dresden Green," there is another green diamond, which weighs 160 grains, or about 40 carats. According to Kluge it is brilliant cut, and set a jour in a plume. This is, no doubt, the same stone which Mawe describes "a green brilliant of exquisite beauty and great size, but of irregular form." He adds that in his time, or early in the present century, "it was worn by the King of Saxony, when in court dress, as a button to the plume of his hat." It seems to have belonged originally to the Elector, Augustus of Saxony.
