Edwin Streeter was a London jeweller who set out to trace every great diamond then known — where it was found, who owned it, what it weighed before and after cutting, and which of the stories told about it survive examination.
The chapters are the stones themselves: the Braganza, the Matan, the Nizam, the Regent, the Sancy, the Koh-i-Noor. Streeter is briskly sceptical about the legends and precise about the carats.
This digital edition presents the complete keyed text, one chapter to a stone.
