The form figured on our plate is the slight variety named fumosa by Strecker, in which the fore wings are a little dusky at their tips as if they had been flying about in the smoke of the furnaces at Reading or Pittsburgh. Ordinarily the species is pure white. The body of the specimen on our plate is greasy, and hence too dark.
