This remarkable little species inhabits in the larval stage the mangroves which grow in the swampy lands on the southern coast of Florida. A good account of its habits has been published by Dr. Dyar in the "Journal of the New York Entomological Society," Vol. V, and indeed the student who desires to know about the habits of this and all other species of the Cochlidiidae found in North America must consult the writings of this author, who has made these insects the subject of special and exhaustive inquiry.
