Misnamed Gallmoth
The moth was called "the Misnamed Gall-moth" by Professor Riley because Clemens had given it a specific name which implied that it was a denizen of willow-trees or willow-galls, when in fact it has been ascertained to live in the galls of the Golden-rod (Solidago). The insect is not uncommon in western Pennsylvania, and is possibly an inquiline or intruder in the galls, which are produced by another species, Gnorimoscbema gallaesolidaginis Riley.
