Butterflies

This volume gives a description of North American butterflies, assembled by families, genera and species. Each description is accompanied by a reference to the coloured plate where the species is pictured. The early stages, if known, are given, and the geographical range.

The introductory chapters give the structure and life history of butterflies, with directions for the capture and preparation of specimens for the cabinet, and for their classification.
