Length: 8 feet.
Description: Beak very short, a mere rim with a depression between it and the forehead on each side. Colour black on back, rest of body gray, sides with white and yellowish patches; a narrow black stripe from the base of the tail halfway to the middle of the body; eye surrounded with black and black lines from it to the snout and flipper; flippers black. Teeth 35 above, 37 below.
Range: North Atlantic, southward to Cape Cod.
